This class is by Instructor invite only and is designed to follow traditional Muay Thai training camps.
Our Thai-style Sparring classes involve the following training aspects:
Light contact with an emphasis on technique development, skill and control. Intermediate and advanced students will utilize all techniques in a controlled, safe and fun manner. The focus of this class is to apply all the tools learned in the other classes and get comfortable with more real time & real competition style offensive and defensive movements. Equipment requirements:- Clean uniform
- Sparring gloves (minimum 16 oz for 140lbs and above, minimum 14 oz gloves under 140lbs)
- Shin guards
- Mouthpiece (required)
- Groin protection (required for males, suggested for females)
- Chest protection suggested for females


This class is by Instructor invite only and is designed to follow traditional Muay Thai training camps.
Classes typically start with a run or cardio warm-up, then move into the following pillars of Muay Thai training:
Shadow boxing, Heavy bag work and/or Pad work, Clinching and/or Sparring and Technical drills.
Bag drills focus on building power, timing and footwork by building combinations step-by-step and building stamina through the use of varied training intervals and intensities.
Pad work is done with a partner to develop offensive and defensive combinations with Thai pads – this is a lot of fun and one of the more popular aspects of Muay Thai training. Always a fan favourite and a very effective way to learn Muay Thai.
Clinch & Knee drills is when we practice the application of the devastating knee attacks and unique stand-up neck wrestling of Muay Thai.
Technical Drills are controlled and safe partner work practicing offensive and defensive techniques, simulating fight scenarios with drills progressing to one-step and/or single-technique sparring.
Athena Bridges the gap between traditional & modern Muay Thai teachings.
You will learn:
- Controlled, light contact sparring
- Real-time offensive and defensive movements

- Develop students from beginners to advanced practitioners.
- Build and foster a safe & supportive team environment.
- Physically & mentally prepare students for competition.
- Help students work toward and realize their personal goals.
- Build overall confidence to “train like a fighter” whether you choose to compete or not.
Athena offers students the opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills: Fundamental drills for defensive footwork and basic offensive skills including proper form of all eight strikes.
Our group class setting allows students a space to learn both fundamental and advanced skills in an empowering environment.
